Join weaver, knitter and award-winning spinner Richard Muto for an afternoon of spinning stories, knowledge and hands-on experience. This fall and winter,* Cluck! will be joining forces with Richard to offer more in-depth classes in weaving - this event is an opportunity for us to gauge areas of interest to help us hone the direction we will take with the longer classes. Come be mesmerized by this ancient craft!
Richard Muto has judged the textile trials at numerous state sheep and wool festivals as well as sheep to shawl competitions. He is founding member of the Maine Fiber Arts, past member of the Knitting Guild of America and a member of the RI Spinners Guild. He has taught spinning at Slater Mill and the Octagon House here in RI and teaches privately and gives workshops throughout New England.
*With cluck! now on our home farm Hurricane Hill, we are excited to connect our farm’s focus on fiber animals with the store’s focus on homesteading, self-reliance and traditional crafts. Right now we anticipate offering a Spring 2019 class ‘From Fleece to Fabric’ (where you take part in shearing, skirting, spinning and weaving). Over the winter, we’ll also be offering a knitting class and running a knitting group!
This event is FREE and suitable for families. Please RSVP as space is limited.
