So much of what we do every day revolves around the practical-the things we all need to do to grow our gardens and keep our chickens and bees. There are so many deadlines: last frost/first frost, pea sowing, garlic planting, potato harvest, cover crop, chick days and bee package pick-up, our honey harvests. Meanwhile, behind the calendar, beyond the seasons’ relentless demands on those who plant and raise and husband, there is the steady, gentle mystery of nature-a mystery over which we have no stated dominion yet for which we are critical stewards. WONDER takes us on a journey through four such mysteries while the earth sleeps and we wait breathlessly for spring.
